My own health journey

To give you a little history about me, I wasn’t always a fitness or health enthusiast. I would love ordering takeout every day and indulged myself in sugary junkies like chocolate cake from time to time! Don’t judge me; I know you all love to do it as well! I used to dream and pray for a world where cloudy with the chance of meatballs would be a reality.

I never really gave much thought to how I looked or even that I was obese, it never bothered me. I was happy with myself and I was going about life, but come May 20th 2015 where at around 1am I felt a throbbing pain in my chest, it was unbearable and I had to be rushed to the ER.

After many thorough tests like stress echo cardiogram, cardiac computed tomography (CT) and MRI; I was diagnosed with 3 blockages in my coronary arteries. So to put it in simpler words I almost had a heart attack that night at the age of 23! I was lucky I was rushed in to the hospital early and things were taken care of but that night seeing myself in that state was one of the reasons I decided that my life needed some serious changes.

After I was discharged from the hospital and sent home, I started off with steady but baby steps. I was not allowed to do a lot of heavy cardio or training. So I made small changes such as completely changing my diet going hand in hand with an effective alteration of my sleeping patterns. It wasn’t easy for me in the beginning, I struggled enormously but then I started to lose weight. My health reports started to look up, there was so much hope for me to lead a normal healthy life and I took it. Always remember you can never do something unless you will to do it; when there is a will, there’s definitely a way. So 6 months in to my journey I lost 53 pounds and was healthier than ever. Nothing was going to stop me from being the absolute best form of myself and this is when I decided I need to share my story with others and assist in making their journeys easy and enjoyable at the same time.

All this would not have been possible without the support of my family and friends; their love and understanding helped me be the person I am today. My own determination has helped me on this path as well. I will not say I’m perfect but I am doing what I owe to my well being and you can too! I understand the difficulties but once you start the right way there are no limits. I most certainly did not completely give up junk food, well hello I am still a human being but I know how to manage my eating habits and my blog is here to help you do the same.

So let’s aspire to inspire and remember you are not alone!

My aim

My aim is to gradually inculcate interesting and healthier ways of preparing food with an added sensitivity to your eating habits, to help you add more fruit and vegetables on your plate that necessitate growth and positive wellbeing. My values are: Natural, Simple, Honest, and I hope that comes through in everything I do. That can range from trying to create delicious recipes with a limited amount of well known, readily available ingredients, to sharing the recipes for our products that are sold in grocery stores. I also want to be able to make exercising fun for you rather than a chore.
